Being a Christian means believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, accepting His teachings, and striving to live according to His example. It involves a personal relationship with Jesus and following the principles laid out in the Bible.
To become a Christian, you need to:
Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ. It symbolizes dying to your old self and being reborn as a new person in Christ. It is an important step in the Christian faith, demonstrating obedience to Jesus' command and identification with His death, burial, and resurrection. It is not a requirement for salvation though.
While going to church is not a requirement to become a Christian, it is highly recommended. Church provides a community of believers for support, fellowship, and growth in your faith. It also offers opportunities to learn more about the Bible and participate in worship and service.
The Bible is the holy scripture of Christians, composed of the Old and New Testaments. It is the inspired Word of God and is the ultimate authority for faith and practice. It contains teachings, history, poetry, prophecy, and guidance for living a life that pleases God.
A good starting point is the New Testament, particularly the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) which tell the story of Jesus' life and teachings. Another helpful approach is to follow a Bible reading plan or use a study Bible with commentary and explanations.
Prayer is a way of communicating with God. It involves talking to Him, sharing your thoughts, concerns, gratitude, and requests. Prayer can be done individually or with others, and it is a vital part of developing a personal relationship with God.
Growing in faith involves regular Bible reading, prayer, attending church, and participating in Christian fellowship. It also includes serving others, sharing your faith, and seeking to live according to God's will. Spiritual growth is a lifelong journey that involves learning, obedience, and trusting God.
There is a lot in scripture that we simply do not understand. We just need to come to a point of “child like faith”. A point where we can say, “I believe, help me with my unbelief”. We can also seek answers through prayer, Bible study, and talking with other mature Christians or church leaders. God welcomes your questions and is patient with you as you seek to understand more about Him and His ways.
The Holy Spirit is one part of the Trinity. It is God’s presence in the life of a believer. The Holy Spirit guides, comforts, and empowers Christians to live a godly life. He helps believers understand the Bible, strengthens their faith, convicts them of sin, and equips them with spiritual gifts for service.
God is love, but He is also holy and just. God cannot ignore sin, because doing so would make Him unjust. Therefore, God must judge all sin and the penalty for sin must be paid.
God, in His mercy and grace, sent His Son Jesus to pay the penalty for us and to open the way for all people to be forgiven of their sins. By trusting in Jesus, a person’s sins can be forgiven and the person will be given eternal life.
Sadly, those who reject Jesus will die in unforgiven sins and will not be worthy to enter Heaven. It is a free-will choice, and only by one’s free-will choice will anyone go to Hell.
God doesn’t send anyone to Hell. They choose to go there by choosing to reject the gift of forgiveness that God offers in Christ Jesus. Tell someone about God’s love and salvation in Jesus today.
Struggling with sin is part of the Christian journey. we all will sin after receiving Chris, though the desire will not be as great. We will desire a life pleasing to Christ.
Confess your sins to God, ask for His forgiveness, and rely on the Holy Spirit to help you overcome temptations. Seek accountability from trusted Christian friends or mentors.
Discipleship is the process of growing and maturing in your faith by following Jesus' teachings and example. It's important because it helps you become more like Christ, deepens your relationship with God, and equips you to disciple others. Seek out a mentor or join a discipleship group to grow in your faith.
From before the foundations of the world God purposed and planned to create man in His own image. His purpose was to reveal more of Himself, because only man is in His image (the planets or stars are not). He also wanted a relationship with those in His image, and yet He knew that man would sin and He knew that He would provide a way for man to be forgiven.
Suffering entered our world as a result of sin. So we might want to reframe the question to be, “why would God create man knowing he would sin?” The Bible does not explicitly answer this. However, I suggest that before sin entered the world, one of God’s attributes was not evidenced. Without sin in the world, there was nothing for God to forgive and God’s forgiveness demonstrates His mercy. When Adam sinned, God forgave him and magnified His mercy throughout all creation. Thereby God was glorified and His mercy continues to be magnified every time He forgives us for our sins.
Only God knows the time and the hour when Jesus will come back (Mat 24:36), but we do know that His return is drawing closer and closer.
As we observe increasing sin in the world and apostasy in the church, we know that God has promised that Jesus will return to judge the world and all that is in it. He will do so in God’s perfect time. Until that time, we (Christians) are to share the gospel to grow the Kingdom of God here on earth and to strengthen the brethren in the Kingdom.
This question is often asked because one wonders if, as a Christian, they will have to give up a sin that they enjoy or take on a task they don’t want to do. God has given you a free will, so He will not make you give up anything. However, His Holy Spirit will convict you of your sin and He will work to change your heart. The more you know and love Jesus, the more you will desire to turn from your sin and live in accordance with God’s purpose and plan.
Regarding taking on a task you might not want to do: If God wants you to do something (e.g. witnessing to others) He will equip and empower you. He will also change your desire so that it will be something you want to do and something you will enjoy doing. Trust that God loves His children and desires that they find joy and purpose in all their activities.
Hell is a place of eternal separation from God. It is a place of great suffering, and it’s the ultimate judgment on a life spent in rebellion to God.
Hell is the final punishment of those who reject God. Hell is necessary because God’s holy and just nature demands that evil be punished. Similarly, the cross was necessary because God’s merciful nature demanded that salvation be offered.
Those who fail to accept Christ’s payment for their sins will go to hell. It is that simple. Whether a person will be in heaven or hell after death will depend on whether he chooses to trust in Christ’s payment for his sins and accept God’s gift of salvation. About this most serious of subjects, it is the Christian’s privilege and duty to proclaim what God has clearly revealed:
Hope is found in salvation through Christ alone.
Yes. There is sufficient evidence to prove God. There are ample proofs in nature that there is a creator, and the truths of the Bible assure us that this creator is the God Christians worship and serve. “Theism” (the belief that a creator exists who not only made the world but who also has acted in this world) is defensible on philosophical, historical, scientific and experiential grounds. Further, all of the possible objections against the existence of God can be sufficiently answered. Based on these lines of evidence and the absence of legitimate counter-evidence, it is rational to conclude that God certainly must exist.
Scripture makes it clear that people are condemned by their actions, their sins, and this is known in one’s heart (see Rom. 2:14-15). In short, no one is ever condemned to hell because of not hearing the gospel. People are condemned for their sin.
God offers a “way out” to all people. No one is unaware that God exists, and the Bible is clear that man is accountable to Him (see Ps. 19; Rom. 1:18-2:12). Whether it is in faraway jungles or urban centers, God sends light to every person. The problem is that people reject the light they have been given.
